Chelsea FC and Reading FC have officially announced that Lucas Piazon will spend the remainder of the 2015-16 season with the Championship club. Piazon and Nathaniel Chalobah were both rumored to be moving to Reading but Chalobah appears to be on his way to Napoli and Serie A.

As for Piazon, he has become yet another loanee sent out by Chelsea FC today as the front office is working in overdrive today to finish up some last-minute loan deals. Along with Chalobah and Piazon, Jeremie Boga and Victor Moses are both set to make their temporary moves today.

Reading manager Steve Clarke is a former Chelsea FC assistant and has also managed in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion. Clarke has had a fantastic track record with Chelsea loanees as he helped develop Romelu Lukaku at West Brom and has taken on Nathaniel Chalobah and Nathan Ake in the past. Clarke has once again used his ties to the club to boost his squad and Reading could become the next Middlesbrough in terms of popular Championship loan destinations for Chelsea youth.

Clarke spoke to the official Reading FC website and said of Piazon:

"“Lucas is a very talented attacking player who can create chances and score goals. When we spoke I was impressed by both his maturity and desire to prove himself in English football after some loan moves to European leagues. I’m sure Lucas will bring something extra to our squad this season.”"

Piazon found himself in some controversial waters earlier this summer after supposedly making comments about not wanting to be at Chelsea because he would only play a few times a month. He denied making the comments after they caused a firestorm on social media but it is understandable if he is disillusioned by the path his career has taken.

After being considered one of the Blues’ top young talents, Piazon has been sent on loans to Vitesse Arnhem, Eintracht Frankfurt, and now to Reading. The hype that preceded his arrival has been reduced to whispers that he may never be good enough for Chelsea. At just 21-years-old he still has his best years ahead of him.

Despite his youth however, his career appears to be heading down the Josh McEachran path of a promising start but an ultimately disappointing finish. This move to Reading may be his last chance to audition for other clubs and increase his price tag ahead of a possible permanent move next summer.

Chelsea FC have shown they are willing to sell off young players and allow them to pursue their careers elsewhere rather than keep them in a never-ending loan cycle. Piazon, along with several other Chelsea youth, may never get a chance to play in the senior squad for the Blues but there are many other clubs in the world that could use their talent. He could prove us wrong by dominating the Championship the way Patrick Bamford or Nathan Ake and if he does then it would be a most welcome surprise.
