Could Chelsea FC Lose Eden Hazard To Real Madrid?

Real Madrid have one of the most talented players in the world leading the line for them in Cristiano Ronaldo but they will one day have to replace him. It may not be next season or even the year after that, but eventually he will have to depart just like all of the other Real legends.

Real already have an option on the right wing in Gareth Bale to step in to the role but who else will terrorize opposing defenses once Ronaldo moves on from the club? If Chelsea FC do not stop the rot, then it could be winger Eden Hazard sporting the white kit of Los Blancos.

Every few months new rumors come out that a club with deep pockets such as Real Madrid or PSG are interested in the Belgian dynamo. Then Hazard responds that he has moved on from French football or that he is dreaming about Chelsea and not Real to shut down the rumors. Months later, they make a comeback and we are right back where we started.

With the way Chelsea FC have been playing, and Hazard in particular, he may not be dreaming about the Blues for much longer. If things continue at their current pace the Blues could easily miss out on the Champions League places in the table. We have seen how damaging missing out on the Champions League can be for a club and how much work they have to do to fully recover.

Manchester United has been able to jump back in to the competition and in to contention because they are one of the richest clubs in the world and have spent accordingly. Liverpool on the other hand has never truly recovered and they struggle to attract top talent despite their history and their wealthy ownership.

While Chelsea FC are one of the giants in world football, they do not have the commercial appeal or the financial power of Manchester United or Real Madrid. The Blues could not simply spend their way back in to the Champions League and missing out on the competition for a few years in a row could drive away some of the club’s top talents.

Eden Hazard signed with the Blues in the summer of 2012 largely because of the fact that they had just won the Champions League. The Blues finished 6th in the table that season but still qualified for the next season by virtue of winning the competition. The Champions League is the most high-profile competition in club football and is a close second to the World Cup in terms of overall prestige.

Players from all around the world express the desire to prove themselves in the sport’s elite competition and many have moved clubs just for that purpose. If the Blues do indeed miss out on the top four this season and struggle to regain their place near the top of the table for consecutive years, the rumors swirling around Hazard and Real Madrid will become even harder to ignore.
