Diego Costa: Chelsea FC Have Lost Confidence
Diego Costa has admitted to a confidence crisis around Stamford Bridge as Chelsea desperately look for form.
Chelsea FC are in a real tricky spot at the moment as they scramble around for inspiration to save their season. The Blues have not won in their last two matches having drawn with Newcastle United and lost to Porto. Furthermore, they face a tough test when Southampton visit on Saturday. Chelsea striker Diego Costa has admitted that the club have lost some confidence.
"It’s not a good moment now. We must do more. We have a good squad with a great deal of quality. We have maybe lost some confidence in three or four games."
This is not particularly surprising given the way in which the West Londoners have started. After an opening day draw with Swansea City, Chelsea have failed to kick on and currently languish in 14th position in the Premier League table.

The Blues did cobble together a string of three consecutive victories in seven days but hopes of a fresh start were quickly dashed by an appalling first half display at St James’ Park. Chelsea were both hopeless and hapless as the Magpies dominated them. Frankly, a 2-2 result was barely deserved by Mourinho’s men.
The Blues put in another terrible performance against Porto days later and rightly came away empty-handed.

The issue is that no-one on the field looks interested. Eden Hazard has been waddling around without any purpose and Jose’s decision to bench him midweek did nothing to motivate either the Belgian or his teammates.
The dangerous part is that even if the Blues have been complacent, the results have been so poor that their campaign may already be over. The continuous dropped points have now manifested itself in lost confidence and it’s going to take a herculean effort on behalf of both management and senior players to get the team firing.
Costa recognises this but feels that the squad are more than capable of reinvigorating themselves and snapping out of this streak of severe mediocrity. This is especially true with The Special One in charge.
"The manager knows the quality of his team. He knows what we can do. It is the responsibility of all of us. We have to improve our character and confidence."
The striker was one of the few shining lights (along with Asmir Begovic) in the Porto clash and Blues fans will be hoping that he will employ some of his more fiery traits to slap his teammates into action.
Chelsea welcome Southampton on Saturday and Ronald Koeman’s men will be waiting to pounce should a disinterested Blues outfit trot out onto the Stamford Bridge turf. With their free-flowing and attacking football, the defence is likely to face a test as tough as any that they have been subjected to so far.
This has really developed into a crisis.
