Chelsea FC Technical Director Michael Emenalo has spoken to Chelsea TV regarding Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

Jose Mourinho was sacked earlier today after a 2-1 loss against Leicester City on Monday proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. With Roman Abramovich showing patience throughout this campaign, that ninth defeat in 16 Premier League games evidently pushed him over the edge.
In the aftermath, Michael Emenalo has afforded the club’s in-house TV station Chelsea TV a few minutes to communicate the board’s reasons for the change. As the most visible person in the Chelsea brass, the Nigerian was dispatched to explain a decision that the majority of Blues fans are irate with.
Emenalo is keen to emphasise that Mourinho’s sacking (or mutual termination, as the club statement claims) was an action fulfilled with a heavy heart, but for the good of the club. With the boss signing a long-term contract extension in August, Emenalo uses this as proof that this was certainly not something that the board envisaged in the near future.
The Real Champs
"That contract clearly signifies that what happened today was not a premeditated decision. It was a decision taken to protect the interests of the club. The results are not good. There obviously seems to be a palpable discord between manager and players and we felt it was time to act. The owner has been forced to make what was a very tough decision for the good of the club."
The results are indeed not good. Sitting just one point above the relegation zone, Chelsea are in serious trouble. Furthermore, it is hard to argue with his claim that there was friction between the players and their boss.
However, since news broke of his dismissal, Blues fans have come out overwhelmingly in Mourinho’s support. Many have even stated that they would have the whole squad sacked over dismissing the Special One.
The strong feelings regarding the decision have emphasised the negative image that the supposed superstars of Chelsea FC have projected. For example, in Manchester United’s case, Louis Van Gaal has been blamed for their dull displays. At Stamford Bridge, meanwhile, everyone has pointed their collective finger at the players.

While Emenalo states that the club felt that it was time to act, there is a prominent belief that the players should have been the ones to lose their jobs instead.
Unfortunately, though, this is football and such a scenario is unheard of. Emenalo also clearly outlines where the club stands on such arguments.
"It’s very easy to make that kind of inference [that players were more to blame than the manger] but it’s not one the club accepts."

This may not be what Chelsea fans want to hear, but it is encouraging that the club are forthcoming in an attempt to explain their actions. This is the only way in which they will bring the supporters – the heart and soul of Chelsea – back onto their side.
Having said that, they better win on Saturday, otherwise sh*t will truly hit the fan.
