Chelsea FC Transfer Targets: Christmas Wishlist
Juan Mata – Anoop Ramakrishnan
I think all of us have been through the experience of having at least one audacious item on our holiday wishlist. Well, Juan Mata is my audacious wish for this holiday.
None of us need an introduction to this diminutive midfield wizard, who crafted his way (pun intended) into our hearts during his short, fruitful stint with Chelsea.
With the latest developments & tumult in the coaching circles, especially with Louis Van Gaal facing an imminent sack and our Special One being heavily tipped to take over at Old Trafford, Mata would find himself in an unprecedented Catch 22 situation, one which even Nostradamus would’ve failed to predict.
Mata was shipped to United due to his “un-Mourinho” traits. Jose, at United’s helm, could potentially make Mata’s position untenable again. With Chelsea struggling on-field, in the creativity department and with crazy rumours of Cesc Fabregas and Real Madrid cropping up, I’d say we bring Mata back.
This would placate our currently irate fans in many ways – as a compensation for Jose, as a general morale boost and as a creative boost on field. Guus Hiddink’s methods and gameplay might even suit our old boy. And last but not the least, he’d surely be worth the money.
