5. Avoided Trap Game

Despite some seriously underwhelming performances this season, The Blues find themselves in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. A series with PSG, a team Chelsea has plenty of recent history with, should prove to be another fascinating affair. It would be easy then to overlook Newcastle, a side who are squarely in a fight to avoid relegation.

The squad did well by jumping out to an early lead, and putting the game virtually out of reach by halftime. Though this is the English top flight, and anything can happen, the hosts added to that lead, and ended up bagging five goals. Now all attention can be turned towards the trip to Paris on Tuesday. Chelsea will probably go into the game as slight underdogs, but would put themselves in a good position if they’re able to snatch an away goal.
