5. Europa League places now a possibility?

With the win against Southampton, Chelsea FC sit 11th in the league only four points off the Saints who are in 7th.

If you had said to me three months ago that we could finish in the top seven or six I would have replied that we won’t get into the top half. Back to back wins with Norwich to come in mid-week should give Chelsea fans the optimism that we will be in the top half of the table soon enough.

Given that we are playing so much better than before, there is even the possibility that we make it into Europe’s second tier competition via league position.

We have tough home games to come against West Ham, Spurs and Manchester City but we also have winnable fixtures against Norwich, Bournemouth and Sunderland.

If the team continues to show the mental strength and poise exhibited today, then there is no reason to think that the Blues cannot finish in the top six of the league.
