As rumours heat up regarding Chelsea FC’s next permanent manager, stories concerning the potential players that will be brought in continue to fly.

Giacomo Bonaventura is the latest Italy-based player to be linked with a summer transfer to Chelsea. Ever since Antonio Conte was reported to be on the verge of confirming his arrival, rumours have surfaced regarding the players that he wants and Bonaventura appears to be one of them.

Rumour mill giants Calciomercato are the source of the story, as they claim that the midfielder is high on the list of priorities for Conte.

"With Antonio Conte set to take over at Chelsea next season, he has already mentioned Jack as a possible target for his new midfield. The Blues are now set to send their scouts to watch Bonaventura."

More from The Pride of London

This is in addition to reports claiming that Chelsea are closing in on a deal for AS Roma’s Miralem Pjanic worth in excess of £30 million. While the club supposedly finalise their agreement with Conte, the brass are already getting to work on his transfer targets.

As usual, it is worth pointing out that these are merely rumours. Furthermore, these are rumours stemming from an outlet that is notorious for, ahem, chatting sh*t. Excuse my French.

Nevertheless, it’s always fun to play around with these and consider them a possibility. The 26-year-old has racked up six goals and seven assists in 26 Serie A appearances this season, increasing his stock on the continent. It is fair to say that Bonaventura would be a signing welcomed at Stamford Bridge.

However, to put all this into perspective, The Sunday Times only this morning reported that the Conte deal is far from done, with Chelsea making an audacious move for Mauricio Pochettino. This goes to show that not even God knows what the hell is going on.

Anyway, Bonaventura. Yay or nay?
