Chelsea FC make the trip to the seaside this weekend as they take on AFC Bournemouth. Both teams have nothing to play for, so this could be dull.

As the Premier League mercifully reaches its conclusion, Chelsea FC roll into Bournemouth to take on Eddie Howe’s men. With both clubs firmly rooted in mid-table, this contest could turn out either to be an exciting slugfest, or a wet fish. I’m leaning with the latter.

The Cherries currently sit in 13th position, three points behind the Blues. The fact that they could draw level with the reigning Premier League champions could be seen as some sort of incentive for the hosts. Guus Hiddink, meanwhile, may afford his youngsters another opportunity to strut their stuff ahead of Antonio Conte’s arrival.

Team News

Guus Hiddink confirmed one big return in his pre-match press conference, revealing that Eden Hazard will be available. The Belgian will not be able to play 90 minutes, but he should feature at some point during the contest. Hazard has been missing since the beginning of April and will probably be eager to show his true quality in these last few games.

Chelsea captain John Terry will travel with the team on Saturday, but he won’t take the field. The Englishman is still struggling with minor issues but it is hoped that he will be able to pull on the shirt next weekend.

More from The Pride of London

Loic Remy is the other player unavailable for selection. Diego Costa will likely get the nod up front after returning from suspension last weekend although the interim boss may be tempted to go with Alexandre Pato.

On the other side of affairs, Callum Wilson is moving closer to a starting berth. Bournemouth’s 23-goal man last season made his comeback seven days ago after an anterior cruciate ligament rupture which is great news for both the player and the club.

Junior Stanislas is also now available for Howe but striker Benik Afobe is unlikely to feature. Adam Smith is the other player who has been ruled out for the clash.

Prediction

I’m going to sit on the fence with a 1-1 draw. Diego Costa grabs a goal, but Bournemouth look to put on a show for their fans and get the equaliser.
