Everyone has a favourite player. Whether it is the person who scored the first goal you ever witnessed, or a man who was the highlight reel of your childhood. We asked The Pride Of London staff for their favourite Chelsea player, past or present, and here is what they said!

Scott Brant – John Terry

Captain. Leader. Legend. Three words that describe, and embody a player like no other figure in the Premier League. The man that almost every Chelsea fan loves, unless you aren’t a big fan of forgiveness – is closing in on his last days with the club.

Whether it’s retirement or transfer, John Terry’s 18-year career is drawing to a close. When the man finally quits, and hangs up his boots, he will be gone, but not forgotten. Hopefully one day he will be standing on the sidelines of Stamford Bridge, coaching in some capacity.

More from The Pride of London

John Terry is the reason I became a Chelsea fan. Being from the United States my soccer fandom began with World Cup soccer in 1998. By 2003 I caught wind of a Englishman drinking, and fighting with doormen. Being younger at the time, I thought to myself, this is one cool dude. At that moment I hitched my cart to the Chelsea wagon, and years later I am still absolutely obsessed.

Chelsea in their 112 years of creation have accumulated 25 trophies. Terry has collected 15 trophies as captain, and one more before being issued his captaincy. His long list of accomplishments include; 5 – FA Cups, 4 – Premier League Titles, 3 – League Cups, 2 – Community Shields, 1 – Europa League, and 1 – Champions League.

That means, in little over 18 years of service, John Terry has amassed 16 total trophies. Almost two-thirds of all the trophies Chelsea have ever won. John Terry is undoubtedly the greatest Chelsea player ever.
