Nemanja Matic + N’Golo Kante = Perfection

Nemanja Matic and N’golo Kante were impressive controlling the midfield. Chelsea’s remaining opponents should be very worried.

With these two smack dab in the middle of the pitch few teams can get through midfield to threaten Chelsea. Kante and Matic are the source of the freedom Chelsea’s attacking players have.

Nemanja Matic has shown this season he has not lost his rock-solid presence, despite last season’s blip. He was sturdy in defense against Hull. He sprayed long balls to the forwards in attack, while turning back Hull’s attempts to get past midfield.

N’golo Kante was not to be out done by the Serbian. He had a few beautiful passes himself, along with numerous sightings in the box trying to get on the end of balls. Late in the second half he even exploded with a powerful dribble that would have made Eden Hazard proud.

With these two doing so much offensively and defensively, they quietly are doing the little things a team needs to make a title run. They take pressure off the defense, and allow freedom to the offense.
