According to the latest tabloid chatter, Antonio Conte may be considering leaving Chelsea after a series of failings by the board in the transfer market.

This was inevitable. After news emerged that Manchester United had gazumped the Blues in their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea fans are wondering where their new signings will come from. Now, the next logical step for tabloids to take is to report that Antonio Conte’s future is in the balance due to the board’s failure to support him in the transfer market.

The Mirror reports that the boss is becoming more and more disenchanted with the Stamford Bridge situation.

"Antonio Conte is growing increasingly frustrated at Chelsea and the latest transfer blow raises serious questions about his future at Stamford Bridge…Chelsea’s ability to turn success into a shambles has returned to haunt them again with the much talked about new contract for Conte remaining rather ominously unsigned."

For all intents and purposes, Conte will be the manager of Chelsea come August. So, if you don’t want to participate in traditional transfer market conjecture, read about a potential pursuit of Alvaro Morata:

While Conte may not quit West London, you can understand supposed frustration at the board. Romelu Lukaku was on the verge of signing for the Blues. Now, he is all but heading to title and Champions League rivals Manchester United.

Deals for the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko have also not closed, despite rumours suggesting that negotiations are even beyond advanced stages.

Chelsea may have won the Premier League last season, but the new campaign presents a completely different challenge. A return to Europe loads the schedule and leaves a thin squad understaffed. Conte needs reinforcements to cope.

Moreover, the boss needs quality signings to ensure that the club competes for the trophies that the fans expect. At the moment, Chelsea have only announced the arrival of a backup goalkeeper and some youngster that few people have heard of.

Frankly, if I was in Conte’s position and a club with a clear vision and backing offered me a contract, I would find it hard to turn down. Would you? Sound off in the comments below!
