With speculation about his future reaching a fever pitch, Tiemoue Bakayoko has released an Instagram post that may dishearten Chelsea fans.

Chelsea continue to flounder in the transfer market as Blues fans await a marquee signing. Tiemoue Bakayoko has been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch for what seems an eternity now and the midfielder’s latest social media post does little to hint at a West London move. In fact, it does much to the contrary.

Bakayoko is returning to Monaco in this video, seemingly to rejoin his current club for pre-season training. More concerningly for Chelsea fans, he has hashtagged AS Monaco in the post. Well, the first question to ask is why Bakayoko would tag his club in a teaser video if he was planning to leave them? That just seems bizarre.

More from The Pride of London

According to rumours, Bakayoko has been on the verge of closing a Chelsea deal for a number of weeks. Yet, nothing has materialised. Especially after the Romelu Lukaku disaster, Chelsea would have moved to complete the move quickly if it was possible.

The longer this saga continues, the less hope Blues fans will harbour. Frustration may also build. While the club have signed Antonio Rudiger, central defence was probably the area of least concern. The midfield needs strengthening if Chelsea want to challenge for the Champions League.

However, this latest development paints the picture of a player who is going nowhere but back to his club. At the age of 22 and with another two years left on his contract, he may feel that he is best served by sticking with Monaco. He is a regular starter and one of the key men in a competitive and exciting team. Another season to cement his reputation could benefit him in the long run.
