Chelsea and Jeremie Boga impress against Arsenal: Watch the goals
Chelsea kicked off their pre-season campaign in style on Saturday afternoon. The Blues thrashed Arsenal 3-0 while unlikely stars impressed.
It may only be pre-season, but any victory over Arsenal is one to savour. Especially one that carries as much as style as this did. Chelsea jump-started their campaign with an emphatic 3-0 victory. Michy Batshuayi scored twice while Jeremie Boga took advantage of a fortuitous opportunity for 60 minutes of football.
Willian opened the scoring for the Blues with a tidy right-footed finish.
What a lovely turn from Batshuayi in the middle of the park, too.
The Belgian then doubled the lead with another superb finish. This time, he finessed it with his left.
With Alvaro Morata only joining up with the squad in Singapore, Batshuayi grabbed his chance to prove his worth. The striker bagged another goal for himself with a belter of an effort.
However, the best bit of that goal is probably Marcos Alonso sending Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back to England. And to think Chelsea are interested in signing him…
Overall, it was a very encouraging performance from the Blues. They set out in the 3-4-3 formation and they picked up where they left off.
Arsenal, admittedly, were understrength but Conte will take plenty of positives from the display. One particularly eye-catching performance was that of Jeremie Boga. A nasty collision between Pedro and David Ospina saw the Spaniard be substituted in the 29th minute. Boga came on, stole the show and was the undisputed man of the match, despite Batshuayi’s brace.
Pedro was taken to hospital with suspected concussion, but Conte confirmed after the game that a full recovery is expected. While the squad travelled to Singapore on Saturday, Pedro will join up with them on Sunday if he is allowed to.
