Predictions for Watford and Chelsea’s battle of poor form
Chelsea travel to Watford as they seek to stop the bleeding. Can they overcome their bad form to make Watford’s terrible run worse?
Barrett Rouen: Chelsea 2-0 Watford. One of the few teams in as bad a way as Chelsea at the moment is Watford. Chelsea have a group of wannabe professional footballers scattered with some real ones. Watford are even more in the mud.
Travis Tyler: 1-0. Antonio Conte threw out the plan after Bournemouth scored their third and had the team in a 4-something-Hazard formation. He might experiment with that again but without a striker to set the attack, goals will be hard to come by.
Abhishek Pancholi 2-0. While Conte remains precariously perched atop a cliff with Roman Abramovich’s boot aimed squarely at his rear, Watford have already gotten rid of their manager once this season. Javi Gracia may be steadying the ship but it is the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to stretch their legs and get a decent result. If Olivier Giroud doesn’t start, expect a late cameo as a substitute for the bearded beefcake.
Scott Brant 2-1. The Blues must win for the standings and Conte. A win to keep ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham while relieving some unwarranted pressure upon Contes job security. Would it be too much to ask for some momentum leading to the Barcelona clash later this month? Alonso with a goal.
Dan McClue 0-0. Chelsea continue their protest after the departure of Michy Batshuayi by refusing to score for a second game in a row. Conte tries to change the flow of the game but realises Batshuayi was the only player he had that could score against Watford.
Hugo Amaya 1-0. With the players feeling rested, Conte will make some changes to the formation and tactics and the blues will control the entire game. However, they will only manage one goal and struggle the rest of the game from the defensive point of view.
