Mason Mount (No. 19) Right winger, England

Mason Mount has typified the high energy approach Lampard has demanded from his system, leading the press from the front and constantly on the search for a positive pass into the final third. He has also found a slice of scoring form, netting twice in the last four matches, having hit a blank since English football was reinstated. Chelsea fans will hope Mount won’t have burnt himself out after a tireless campaign and can conjure his last reserves to make Munich sweat.

Olivier Giroud (No. 18) Forward, France

Speaking of those on a hot streak, Olivier Giroud has eight from eight in all competitions and has been somewhat of a revelation since being restored to the starting line up in place of Tammy Abraham. He will certainly have his work cut out trying to feed off scraps and hold the ball up to give his team mates a breather, but he definitely has the class and guile to pull a moment of magic out of thin air.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (No. 20) Left winger, England

And now for the wild card in Lampard’s deck of limited options. Callum Hudson-Odoi has started just 11 times in 2019/20, hampered by all manner of injuries, yet his manager may have no choice but to throw the 19 year-old into the cauldron of fire. And he will certainly want to impress, considering Bayern were extremely keen to gain Hudson-Odoi’s signature in a lengthy saga that stretched way beyond the summer transfer window. No Pedro, Christian Pulisic or potentially Willian has provided the mercurial talent to prove his worth in London and what Bayern are missing out on.
