Reece James (No. 24) Right wingback, England
Reece James has been great at centerback in the past few games. There are many advantages to playing James in the back three. He is fast, controls the ball well, can recover quickly and has an imposing build. However, he possesses several skills that go to waste when he plays at the back. James can be a nightmare for anyone playing on his wing; just ask Benjamin Mendy. The Englishman has the ability to bully defenders and run past them with ease. Chelsea will need James on the wing to create chances and handle the wide positions efficiently against City.
Jorginho (No. 5) Central midfielder, Italy
Jorginho has been pretty inconsistent in recent games. He was extremely poor against Aston Villa and was responsible for a horrific blunder against Arsenal. That being said, one cannot deny that Jorginho has been monumental in a number of Chelsea wins this season. He has dictated the pace from the base of midfield and has been very tidy. Another factor that often goes unnoticed is that he has fantastic chemistry with N’Golo Kante, and they both complement each other with their skillsets. Jorginho will have to be at the top of his game, and he cannot let past performances affect his mindset. He might even have to step up to the spot once more!
N’Golo Kante (No. 7) Central midfielder, France
In a parallel universe, I would be discussing how Kante has been in terrific form this season and could be a potential game-changer in the final. However, Kante missed the squad for the match against Aston Villa due to an injury. He did train before leaving for Porto though, and it seems like he is ready to start the final. If he starts the game, he dominates the game. That is Kante, one of the best football players in the world.
Ben Chilwell (No. 21) Left wingback, England
Ben Chilwell has had a good debut season for the Blues. He has proved many critics wrong with his consistency. In general, the team has struggled on numerous occasions in recent times. However, Chilwell instantly impacted the FA Cup final against Leicester City and was unlucky to be denied by VAR. The left back will play a vital role for the Blues in the final as he will probably face Riyad Mahrez on his side, and that man is on fire right now.
