3. Armando Broja set for a new long-term contract

Chelsea youngster Armando Broja is set to be offered a new five-year contract this summer according to Fabrizio Romano. The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Vitesse in the Eredivisie, scoring 11 and assisting thrice in 34 appearances.

Romano said via Twitter:

"“Chelsea board are working to finalize a long term contract for the talented young striker. He’s set to sign until June 2026.”"

It is said that he will be training with the first team squad during preseason training as Thomas Tuchel awaits the arrival of the players from the Euros and Copa America. The Albanian international has been a part of Chelsea since he was 8 years old. He has been a prolific goal scorer for the academy throughout the years. Broja signed his first professional contract with the Blues in late February of 2020. Then in March, he made his brief Premier League debut under Frank Lampard during Chelsea’s 4-0 win against Everton, replacing the aforementioned Giroud in the 86′.

After the sale of Giroud to AC Milan, Chelsea will be left with only two recognizable strikers: Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham. Abraham is continuously being linked away from Chelsea with the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham United interested. Bringing in a striker will be the priority for the Chelsea board. Saying that, Romano has confirmed that Chelsea will definitely sign a striker this summer. Even if the German plays with one striker in his formation, he would need at least three strikers in his first team. Mathematically saying that, if Broja impresses during preseason training and chips in with a few goals in the friendlies, he has a big chance of being involved in the first team next season.

On the other hand, if the gaffer feels that he still needs a bit more experience—which might very well be the case—he should be loaned to either a Championship team or to a lower-level Premier League side, where he can get regular game time.
