Chelsea vs Aston Villa player ratings: Romelu Lukaku brace at the Bridge
By Anthony Gatt
Hakim Ziyech (Right wing): 7/10
Hakim Ziyech has shown us that he has the quality on the ball but has yet to show has us what exactly he will do with that ball. He played the full 90 minutes which will be good for his confidence hopefully but he must be more decisive in the final third in order to be a regular in the starting XI.
Kai Havertz (Left wing): 7/10
Kai Havertz has been superb so far this season but today went missing a little bit today really struggling to get past that final defender. His work rate and movement opened the game up for Lukaku but lacked that final ball to set the Belgian up and was subbed off in the 64 minute.
Romelu Lukaku (Striker): 9.5/10
This is exactly what you want from your striker the ability to put the ball in the back of net when he is given a chance to do so. Literally he had two clear cut chances and put both of them in something this team was lacking last season and us makes a totally different opposition that should bring a smile to all Chelsea fans and anger to all opposing fans. His second home debut was a massive success and with that behind him the sky is the limit for Big Rom and for the badge that he kissed after his first goal.
Jorginho (Central midfielder): 7/10
Came on at halftime for Saul who was struggling and done a great job in calming things down when it looked a little shaky in the first half.
Cesar Azpilicueta (Right wingback): 8/10
Got the assist for Lukaku’s second goal and closed the game out for the 25 minutes that he was on what more can I say the captain always delivers when called upon.
Timo Werner (Striker): N/A
Only got 10 minutes to play upfront with Lukaku and I much rather judge him when he gets more time upfront with Lukaku before I come with a verdict if it’s going to work or not.
