Reece James (Right wingback): 10/10

The Man of the Match award for the Newcastle game was deservingly won by James. The wingback was in a class of his own on Saturday, scoring two stunning goals in the second half to win the game for Chelsea. James was even involved in creating three key passes and putting in the most crosses into the box (7).

Jorginho (Central midfielder): 7/10

The Italian midfielder controlled the game well. He played against a very crowded midfield of Newcastle and nevertheless, Jorginho kept his composure while making forward passes and maintaining the tempo of the game according to the teams’ needs. Jorginho converted his penalty in the second half to extend the team’s lead to three, capping off a good second-half performance.

N’Golo Kante (Central midfielder): 6.5/10

Saturday was not the best day for the French midfielder on the pitch. With all Newcastle players playing in their own half, the Blues had almost all of the possession, which resulted in N’Golo Kante being forced into a playmaking role. Kante, as a player, is better known for his defensive contribution, rather than his attacking contribution to the game. Keeping all of that in mind, it was not a surprise that Kante misplaced quite a few passes. He was then substituted by Loftus-Cheek in the 64′.

Ben Chilwell (Left wingback): 7/10

Saturday ended Ben Chilwell’s goal-scoring run of three Premier League games. Despite that, Chilwell had a good game at Newcastle, performing his defensive duties well. The English wingback was also responsible for creating two key passes in the final third, but was mostly snuffed out by the Magpies’ defense.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Central midfielder): 6.5/10

Loftus-Cheek came on in the 64′, replacing Kante and brought much-needed physicality into the final third. It was his blocked shot that fell to James and he finished it in stunning fashion.

Saul (Central midfielder): N/A

Saul Niguez came on for Callum Hudson-Odoi in the final few minutes of the game and did not have much time to impact the game.
