Hakim Ziyech (Right winger): 7/10

The Moroccan international had one of his better games for the club this season on Saturday, but had nothing to show for in the end. Hakim Ziyech did have the ball in the back of the net in the first half until he was rightly ruled offside. In the second half, Ziyech had a long-range shot deflected onto the post and was again denied a goal. This was as good as it got for the winger as he was substituted for Ross Barkley in the 64′.

Kai Havertz (Center forward): 7.5/10

Newcastle playing with such a low lying back line from the start meant that it would be a very difficult game for the German international—this is how it turned out to be. Havertz could not influence the game much, no matter if he stayed central or drifted wide. However, Havertz did make an impact as the game opened up after James scored two stunning goals. Havertz was the one who was brought down to win the penalty, which was converted by Jorginho.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Left winger): 7.5/10

Hudson-Odoi was again given a chance to impress in his preferred left-wing position. However, he struggled to open up Newcastle’s low-lying defense. Hudson-Odoi did make a couple of creative runs and showed a willingness to play forward when possible. Too often though, Hudson-Odoi was outnumbered and outmuscled out by the Magpies’ defenders.

Ross Barkley (Right winger): 6.5/10

Barkley came on for Ziyech in the 64′ and added some momentum to Chelsea’s game by keeping possession and showcasing his passing range. He’ll likely get a start against Malmo midweek.
