2. Reece James

Reece James has truly taken the Chelsea community by storm. We all knew that James was a brilliant player ever since he was given the breakthrough by Lampard. He is robust, fast and has great technique. James is the perfect defender that the Chelsea fans could ask for and he even managed to adjust to the role of a wingback once Thomas Tuchel decided to scrap the four at the back system. As a wingback, James has been given more of an advanced role and he has to not only look after the defence, but also help out the attack. In the past couple of months, James has really shown his attacking nature and shocked footballing fans with his perfect shots.

Believe it or not, even with world class strikers like Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku and amazing attackers like Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount, the top scorer for the Blues this season is James. He has been on fire lately and has managed to score five goals in 10 Premier League appearances. James has been instrumental in Chelsea’s attack and his amazing volleys have been fundamental for the Blues’ success this season. Unlike other wingbacks, James is not scared to take a shot at goal and that has paid off for him time and time again.

Although he scored only once last month, it was an important goal against Juventus and we should not forget that it is not his main job to score goals in the first place. Not only has he been scoring regularly, but he has also been giving it his all at the back to keep clean sheets and keep the London side on the top of the table. He provided two assists last month, one against Burnley and one against Leicester. James has been the key to Chelsea’s success this season and he deservedly takes the number two spot on this list.
