Prediction

On paper, this clash between the two west London sides looks like a one-sided game in favour of the reigning world champion, Chelsea. However, with the Blues having more players representing their national sides during the international break, there are higher chances of injuries to the likes of Havertz and Silva, two of the most in-form players in the squad. Even if the injuries occur or players are rested, everyone expects the Blues to sweep aside Brentford at home.

In terms of what people can expect from the game, it feels like we could see a tired home side. The first half will evidently show the tired legs of players who have also played for their country a few times during the international break. Expect some half chances and a few shots on the goal of David Raya, but nothing too special. This will force Tuchel into making some changes either right after halftime or just after the start of the second half. Expect the visitors to play on the counter and attack Chelsea’s left flank, which will be guarded by the lack of pace of Marcos Alonso. It wouldn’t be too surprising if the Blues do concede a goal, but in the end—just like the Newcastle prediction—the game will be won by Chelsea due to the amount of quality in its team with Romelu Lukaku and Mason Mount scoring the goals.

My prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Brentford

Next. Chelsea has a pair of world class managers in Hayes and Tuchel. dark
