Thomas Tuchel’s dream Chelsea transfer target is revealed
The transfer window is also cryptic social media season for many top-level professionals eyeing moves away from their current clubs. Not that you need to be Alan Turing to decipher a sportspersons’ thinly veiled coded status. Chelsea’s pursuit of Wesley Fofana just got interesting, to be fair. On Monday evening, Fofana became active as his Twitter bio was altered to remove the words ‘Leicester City‘. Furthermore, by Tuesday morning Blues supporters and Foxes fans were widely questioning an Instagram post from the Frenchman. In that post, the defender used a quote in his native language which had a motivational-type message.
Essentially the proverb conveyed ignoring the naysayers and to do what is right for oneself. While it is not a bad philosophy, at all, it is topically revealing, divisive, as well as an unwise manoeuvre for a professional to make. Fofana took similar steps and pressured former club Saint-Etienne in order to originally seal a switch to the King Power side. Fofana may likely be secured for an extravagant fee of over £85million approximately, but the West London team shall probably have to sweeten the deal with one of their unwanted, up-and-coming, or periphery personnel. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Levi Colwill – someone Leicester have definitely tracked – have been mentioned in relation to a part exchange. Though Brighton & Hove Albion may disrupt LCFC’s desire for Colwill.
Thomas Tuchel’s dream Chelsea transfer target is revealed and Pride of London offers a verdict
Another potential swap could be on the cards on Fulham Road as Thomas Tuchel’s ideal signing has been discussed. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport, of RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol is the ‘dream target’ for Tuchel. Plettenberg adds that Leipzig want to keep their man; however, the German outfit are said to wish for a reunion with Chels’ attacker Timo Werner.
The reporter claims that realising the dream of capturing the central defender shall be ‘hard to realise’. Werner appears to be the perfect appeasement for his fellow Germans; but they are holding firm by insisting a trade is not on the cards because Gvardiol is unavailable. Apparently the Red Bulls’ preference is to retain their defender and take the forward to the Red Bull Arena. Leipzig don’t want much, do they?!
I feel Werner’s options are exhausted at CFC. I was never particularly bowled over by the Germany international prior to his move to England. Since then he has done very little to justify his standing, wages or transfer fee. Offloading him and securing a first-choice selection would be superb.
The Bundesliga team and their onetime star are supposedly now in talks. Juventus, Newcastle United and Real Madrid are other major sides to have been connected with strong interests in the 26-year-old, yet Leipzig lead the race.
Focusing on Gvardiol briefly, this addition would seemingly complete the Blues’ defensive lineup. The Croatian is a quintessentially modern advancing centrehalf who possesses a tough streak. On the negative side, this can lead to turnovers, along with fouls in dangerous positions. Whereas the opposite school of thought suggests he will stop attacks and start his own. Gvardiol provides a slight threat on set-pieces at the other end of the pitch.
