Chelsea midfielder Jorginho might perhaps now have a more certain and settled future, following a supposed revelation making matters seemingly clearer.
Jorginho was a valued and respected member of the Blues team under the former management. And, despite annoying the faithful on occasion with awkward penalties, unfocused play, or skewed passing, the Italy man is a fan favourite on Fulham Road.
The player, who shall turn 31 in December, is also admired by new CFC head coach Graham Potter; the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager actually said the athlete was in the running to be named new captain of the west London outfit. So, if you needed clarification about Jorginho’s capacity or standing at Stamford Bridge – there you have it.
If you were not aware, the defensive midfield expert’s contract is expiring and, as long as previous sentiments are shared by the Blues board, he will likely be offered an extension. Jorginho was linked to a host of top clubs over the summer; had Chels’ wished for a transfer, one would’ve probably been agreed then. Therefore it feels as though the ex-Napoli star is to stay with CFC.
In fact, journalist Matteo Moretto claims ‘Jorgi’ desires to remain a Blue; his “priority” is to renew his deal. At this point, the latter has had no contact with potential suitors Barcelona, as per Moretto.
Chelsea winger injured while on international duty
Christian Pulisic has suffered an issue whilst with the United States National Team, otherwise known as USMNT. Pulisic was obviously out of the main Blues plans under former gaffer Thomas Tuchel, though there are hopes from his camp that the versatile wideman will be able to force his way into Potter’s thinking.
There could now be a setback to Pulisic’s hopes, as he misses the match against Japan. According to a tweet from USA’s official football account covering the men’s side, the 24-year-old picked up a “knock” which caused his absence for the friendly contest.
However, all is not lost for the moment because the update included additional information. Apparently Pulisic will be monitored day-to-day, with a possibility of returning for the Saudi Arabia clash on 27 September.
