Kalidou Koulibaly (No. 26) Centerback, Senegal

Koulibaly is likely to make an appearance as Thiago Silva probably won’t be able to play again so soon after Sunday’s game. Koulibaly has been playing mainly in the UEFA Champions League since the arrival of Graham Potter, and this is an opportunity to perhaps stake his claim for a more regular role in the league.

Marc Cucurella (No. 32) Left centerback, Spain

Cucurella was poor against Aston Villa, perhaps it was due to his manager’s genius idea to play him as a left centerback in a back four. His touches, passing, and positioning were off at almost every point in the first half. It’s no wonder he was taken off at half-time. He has a chance to put that performance behind him now.

Ben Chilwell (No. 21) Left wingback, England

Potter likely goes back to a back three with Chilwell as a left wingback, because while the Blues also kept a clean sheet against Aston Villa, it was not due to defense solidity, and the next time Potter’s men allow seven shots on target and four big chances, they would not be so lucky.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (No. 12) Right wingback, England

Loftus-Cheek seems to be the right wingback backup Potter is going with. The decision is justified, as the Englishman has been performing well in recent games.
