In terms of players, RB Salzburg will likely be missing a number of important ones on Tuesday. Four players who featured in September’s meeting are doubts for the clash, including starters Bernardo, Nicolas Capaldo, and Andreas Ulmer. Manager Matthias Jaissle has downplayed his team’s injury crisis, insisting it will strive to “play brave and bold football and frighten the great Chelsea a little.” I personally think Salzburg will have a difficult time breaking down this reformed Blues defense, which has still only conceded three times since Potter’s appointment, and the lack of depth due to these injuries is sure to show its face at some point during the 90’. I just like Chelsea on the moneyline in this contest.

Official odds (via FanDuel as of October 24)

Chelsea ML: -140

RB Salzburg ML: +370

Draw: +290

Over/Under: 2.5 (-122/+100)

My Chelsea picks:

Chelsea vs RB Salzburg: still unbeaten with 3-4-3. light. predicted XI

I don’t love the value on a lot of my usual bets for the second straight match, but I still did pretty well last time out going 2/3. I’ll try to replicate that success yet again, first by taking the Blues on the moneyline at -140. I also like Chelsea to score over 1.5 goals at -128 odds, as Salzburg missing both Bernardo and Ulmer from its back line should have a serious impact on the team’s defensive organization. For my final pick, give me CFC to be leading at either halftime or full-time at -185 odds. As I said, the value isn’t incredible on a lot of these bets, but paying it safe and winning consistently is never a bad idea. Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
