Potter and his boys performed well, though, defeating the Rossoneri twice to reclaim the top spot in Group E with two games remaining. Qualifying for the knockout rounds after the start CFC had to this continental campaign would’ve seemed unfathomable only a few weeks ago, but now I’d be legitimately surprised if it didn’t happen. That’s the magic of the UCL, I guess.

The oddsmakers evidently don’t think the Blues’ struggles in their last match against RB Salzburg were flukish, as the English side is only -140 favorites on the moneyline this time around. This is a pretty massive departure from the encounter back in September, in which Chelsea was favored at -300 odds at kickoff, but the disparity could largely be down to location.

While the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg isn’t known for being a particularly hostile environment, it’s a massive venue that packs thousands of passionate supporters who will be singing and cheering throughout the entire contest. RB is still yet to lose at its own ground this season, so perhaps there is a legitimate home-field advantage for the Austrian side. I think the players on the pitch will have a more important role in determining the outcome than the fans in the stands, though.
