Defence:

Right back: Reece James

Chelsea’s injury fortunes are changing as Reece James could be fit for the Fulham game. The Englishman had already joined training before the Liverpool game and now has made a complete return to the squad. The return of James into the starting lineup solves a big headache for Potter and also gives CFC the attacking width from the right.

Centre back: Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva is ageing like fine wine. Age is not wearing him down and he continues to be the best centre back Chelsea have at the moment. The Brazilian was excellent in the Liverpool game and marshaled the defence effectively.

Centre back: Benoit Badiashile

Benoit Badiashile is an unprecedented starter at this point, as he has racked up superb performances and practically ousted Kalidou Koulibaly from the lineup. The Frenchman has also formed a solid partnership with Silva and the duo together have been working in tandem to nullify opposition attacks.

Left back: Marc Cucurella

Marc Cucurella is undergoing a turbulent spell at Chelsea as he deals with some issues on and off the field. However, there is no doubt over his quality and should get another run at left back as Ben Chilwell has returned to training. He could be available for the Fulham clash but Cucurella should get the nod as Potter wouldn’t want to rush the Englishman.
