Chelsea manager Graham Potter is under tremendous pressure as the Blues suffered their seventh defeat in the last 13 Premier League games yesterday, losing 2-0 to city rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the London derby.

Chelsea looked toothless in attack and even though they were able to create some bits of exciting movement going forward, they did not have the necessary bite up top. Goalscoring has been a huge issue for the Blues as Chelsea have only netted six goals since November 6th and have are the seventh lowest goalscoring side in the league.

This Chelsea side is lacking cohesion and Potter doesn’t seem to have the answers for now. The Blues went into the game expecting a strong reaction after the home defeat to relegation battling Southampton but Chelsea failed to get a positive result against Spurs as the play in the final third once again let them down.

Top 4 favourites to replace Garahm Potter at Chelsea

Many fans turned against Potter after the Southampton loss and demanded that Potter be sacked. Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are still keeping their faith in Potter as this is a long term project but the results and the way Chelsea are playing aren’t helping Potter in putting a strong case for himself.

According to Pari match, the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Potter at Chelsea is Mauricio Pochettino. The former Spurs boss has been out of work since parting ways with PSG. Earlier a report emerged that the Argentine manager turned down the chance to coach Chelsea.

The second favourite on the bookmakers’ list is Zinedine Zidane. The manager has not returned to management after leaving Real Madrid in the summer 2021. PSG had also asked about Zidane when they were looking for a new manager but the Frenchman has not yet returned to management but the attraction of Premier League could mean he comes out of his sabbatical.

Appointing Zidane would see a radical shift in the way things are run at Chelsea. The three time Champions League winning manager often adopts the ‘no nonsense’ approach and is radical when it comes to communication with the players.

Former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is the third on the list as he is also a free agent after leaving the Spain national team post the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Enrique’s sides can play high quality, visually appealing football, something that the supporters would like to see after a slugfest that is on display.

After Enrique, it is Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone who emerges as the fourth candidate to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge should Potter be sacked. Simeone’s contract expires this summer and he is yet to pen a new deal at Wanda Metropolitano. Things aren’t working out for Simeone at Atletico this season as his side are 18 points behind league leaders Barcelona. Now, Simeone’s side do not play eye-pleasing football but are known to churn out the results in tough situations.
