Chelsea predicted lineup vs Dortmund: Reece James returns, Mudryk on the bench in 3-4-3
Attacking Midfield: Joao Felix
Felix has not been at his very best in the last few games. However this man can single handedly win you games and starting him would be a no brainer. He threatened the Black and Yellows defence constantly and was arguably the best player on the pitch in the first leg.
Attacking Midfield: Kai Havertz
The Blues supporters don’t want to see him in the starting XI anymore and understandably so. The German has been underwhelming throughout the season and with the quality that this vast Chelsea side possesses, he definitely should be offering much more to warrant the amount of game time that he’s been enjoying.
However Havertz as a creator could be lethal. He has always thrived in that deeper role behind a striker. And with Potter’s persistence, Havertz can continue starting and offer way more than he has been if used optimally.
False Nine: Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling is one of the most experienced and versatile options on the CFC roster. He has been used on both wings and in these desperate times, he can be used as a false nine too. We’ve seen him play in that role for Manchester City and maybe it’s time for him to replicate the same in a Chelsea outfit. The England International’s pace and finishing could prove to be a deciding factor.
All in all, this will be a very critical fixture in terms of the stature of the competition and Graham Potter’s future. And Chelsea will have to display real character if they plan on progressing to the Quarter Final of the UEFA Champions League.
