A significant Mason Mount claim has emerged, which Chelsea supporters might have missed. If true, the reality would surely further affect the England international’s Blues contract talks.
As you have possibly already heard from the multitude of reports on the subject, Mount was simply overlooked for CFC’s victory over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon. The currently struggling Premier League star was fit and available but surprisingly, even shockingly, didn’t make the cut. Meanwhile, transfer expert and friend of FanSided, Ekrem Konur, recently tweeted that Newcastle United and Liverpool are interested in taking the midfielder this summer. However, Konur also stated that Mount’s preference is to remain at Stamford Bridge; whether or not that revelation will please the west London outfit’s fan base on average is anyone’s guess at this point.
If you want my candid verdict, I believe the time is right to cash in on the Blues academy product, as I have said previously. Mount will likely return to form at some stage, class being permanent and the whole cliche. Although his monetary value is probably decreasing steadily; I’m sure Transfermarkt will have some evidence or indicators of that notion. The main caveat to remember is that, whoever he signs for, the 24-year-old will come back to the Bridge and score and win with his prospectively new teammates. Maybe allowing him to leave is a mistake. Yet I consider the expiring and deadlocked negotiations the deciding factor.
Why Mason Mount wasn’t included in Chelsea’s matchday squad to face Leicester City
Now, thanks to Fabrizio Romano, we have clarity surrounding the Mount situation. And the explanation isn’t good for the footballer if his does wish to remain a Blue whilst commit his future to Chels’. Romano states that Mount was ultimately ignored by CFC head coach Graham Potter because of the dispute over a new deal. Wow.
