Ex-Arsenal player slams Chelsea for treatment of Blues star
A high profile former Arsenal player has criticised the Chelsea ownership for the treatment of a well-known Blues star. Paul Merson talks about Mason Mount’s future and if CFC are making a mistake allowing the England midfielder to leave the club.
Merson played in a far more dynamic and tricky fashion than Mount as he entertained and dazzled Gunners fans. But the Sky Sports pundit wasn’t the best professional, whereas the Chelsea favourite is seemingly diligent on and off the pitch. What Mount lacks in animation, he always made up with commitment, technique and very healthy amount of goals.
The finishing has dried up, at least. While the Chels’ academy product seems less of a footballing technician as time passes. So, is it time for the Blues to cash in on Mount, especially with his contract issues? Merson thinks not. Well, he actually slammed the prospective decision to ‘offload your best players’. In addition, the ex-pro claimed CFC exhibited a ‘bad business’ attitude.
Chelsea may receive multiple injury boosts ready for return to domestic action
The Blues currently have eight first-team stars unavailable. It is unknown if the latest addition to the CFC treatment table, Wesley Fofana, is severely injured or otherwise; the defender withdrew from an initial call-up to the senior France setup. Meanwhile Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Edouard Mendy, Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and Armando Broja are all injured.
However, Graham Potter might have been given some positive news before the roster come back to Cobham Training Ground. This adds to the encouraging fact that the west London outfit were unbeaten in March; they probably should have secured maximum points in the Premier League over that spell.
An update that will fill the Chelsea fan base with further optimism is that most of the squad shall apparently be fit when the international break is over. Mendy, Mount, Sterling, and potentially Thiago, are all expected to be back or close to comebacks, according to a report.
