Chelsea player determined to reclaim starting XI spot and may not leave
A formerly highly regarded Chelsea star is reportedly determined to reclaim his starting place in the starting lineup. However, there is also talk that Edouard Mendy will leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The Pride of London outline the information available and offer an opinion.
The dreaded international break is upon us. Wow, I have made that statement on FanSided many times over the years. And, unfortunately, the Premier League hiatus never becomes less painful or annoying. At least with the World Cup interruption in late 2022 – another competition where I bemoaned timing prior to the beginning – was a thrilling tournament to enjoy. I suppose these matches are Euro qualifiers for many and that tournament shall hopefully be another thriller. But with respect to the Nations League and certain friendlies – don’t get me started.
Now, it is naturally clichéd to point this out but at risk of banality, I think it’s best to discuss the fact that CFC head coach Graham Potter will be hard at work at the drawing board. Obviously the plan seemed to be taking partial shape over the previous month’s matches, yet the Potter project is far from fully functional. PoL hope he’s devising some interesting strategies for April’s outings, including the hugely important Champions League ties with Real Madrid. Daunting.

One man who indirectly lost his place under the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss, is Edouard Mendy. The goalkeeper was the main man on Fulham Road for a couple of seasons; he was praised for his work towards the UCL triumph while Thomas Tuchel was at the Blues helm.
Although injuries, poor form and Kepa Arrizabalaga’s re-emergence have halted Mendy’s progress, as well as diminishing his status. Speculation exists over the Senegalese’s potential departure at the end of the current season.
Though a separate claim states that the stopper apparently wishes to become No.1 at the Bridge again. I am unconvinced that Mendy is competent enough with his feet to consistently succeed at contemporary eminent clubs.
