Last time out against the Villains, one of the most iconic celebrations was born:

The two teams met all the way back in September with CFC securing all three points at Kingsmeadow behind a two-goal outing by Lauren James. It was not with out Villa giving the west Londoners some trouble on their home turf. Former Houston Dash striker Daly finished a Sarah Mayling cross to even the score before the Blues went on to close the game out with two goals in the second half.

These teams have met nine times in the past in all competitions with Hayes’ side securing the win in each one of those. Despite the Blues’ dominance in this fixture, three out of the last five matchups have been decided by just one goal. The second meeting from last season was one of the most memorable fixtures of the west London’s side title run. Given the factor of a mid-week match for Hayes’ side and Villa’s form right now, the 90 minutes on Sunday are destined to be decided by kind of margins it was at Kingsmeadow in 2022.

It will be the fourth match within an 11-day span. Millie Bright has been ruled out of contention for the weekend, and the England squad for the upcoming international break. Her importance to the team was made clear over the past two fixtures, but for now, Hayes’ side is going to have play through it.
