PSG have kept their interest alive in Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech despite a failed attempt to sign the Moroccan in the January transfer window. Ziyech is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and PSG are once again keen on getting the transfer done.
With the arrivals of Mykahilo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in the winter transfer window, Chelsea have enough firepower on the flanks. Ziyech was free to leave in the January transfer window as then manager Graham Potter preferred Raheem Sterling on the right and the new signings meant that Zieych would see a massive reduction in playing time.
He had a fantastic campaign with Morocco at the FIFA World Cup and upon his return to Chelsea, he was slotted right into the team as Sterling and Christian Pulisic spent time on the sidelines because of injuries. Despite impressing during that phase, Ziyech lost his place as Mudryk, Sterling, Joao Felix and Madueke were tried and tested in various roles.
PSG eyeing Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech in the summer
Ziyech has last made an appearance against Tottenham Hotspur and has been on the bench or in the stands since then. Chelsea are planning for a future without Ziyech and he will be given permission to leave at the end of the season.
On January transfer deadline day, Ziyech agreed on a move to PSG until the end of the season as Chelsea and the French giants agreed on a loan move. The 30 year old even flew down to Paris, underwent medicals and was waiting in a Paris hotel for documents to arrive and be announced as a new PSG player.
However, CFC failed to send the documents in time for the move to go through. In fact, Chelsea sent the wrong set of documents thrice and the deadline was missed to register the Moroccan. According to Caught Offside, the Parisiens have stayed in touch with Ziyech and his camp and are preparing another bid to sign the 30 year old in the summer.
Chelsea would be happy to sell Ziyech and bring in cash as FFP reality looms over Chelsea’s head. The London Blues are expecting a bid in the region of £20 million – £30 million to sanction the move for Ziyech.
With Frank Lampard now taking charge of the team as interim manager, Ziyech could be given a fresh start but the chances of him staying at Stamford Bridge beyond this season are as scarce as hen’s teeth.
