Chelsea are on course to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the next manager. The weeks of the exhaustive evaluation process has come to an end as negotiations between the Argentine and the Blues is in the final stages. With the arrival of Pochettino at Stamford Bridge, a reunion of Pochettino and Harry Kane has been touted.

Chelsea have been looking for a striker and signing a forward is a priority in the upcoming transfer window. CFC have been linked to a number of strikers like Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos and Kane.

The Blues have struggled without a striker this season as they have netted just 30 goals in 32 Premier League games. CFC have widely used Kai Havertz in the central role but the German has not been effective in that position. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was neglected by Graham Potter and even after his sacking, there hasn’t been much improvement in the Gabonese’s game time.

Is a Harry Kane – Mauricio Pochettino reunion on the cards at Chelsea?

Romelu Lukaku’s inclusion depends on Pochettino and his evaluation of the squad. The Belgian is on loan at Inter Milan but he is expected to return to Chelsea at the end of the season. The Nerazzurri and the Blues met to discuss Lukaku’s future but it is unlikely that the Italians will make a bid to sign him permanently.

CFC have been keeping an eye on the Tottenham Hotspur striker and Pochettino’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could heighten Chelsea’s interest in Kane, as per talkSPORT. The duo worked together at Spurs and Pochettino is a huge admirer of the England No.9. Kane featured in 242 games under the Argentine manager, netting 169 goals in five years they worked together.

The report adds that Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is bracing for an offer coming from Chelsea for Spurs prized asset. Levy is reluctant to sell Kane but with the player’s contract expiring in the summer of 2024, Levy might not have leverage in negotiations.

Just like Chelsea, Spurs are also looking for a new manager and a fresh project. Kane’s decision could depend on the appointment of a new manager and what project he plans to instill at the club.

On the other hand, Chelsea are bringing Pochettino at the helm with the aim to compete for all trophies. Todd Boehly will once again equip the club to bring in new players as the squad overhaul continues. A number of players are expected to leave as well but signing a striker continues to remain on top of the agenda.
