Lampard reveals two stars he wants Chelsea to keep this summer
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed two stars he wants the Blues to keep this summer. Mason Mount is linked with a move away, but Reece James should stay at Stamford Bridge, with any luck.
To be honest, I’m surprised Lampard has suggested that CFC should keep anyone in that squad after such a horrid season. But, regardless of never forming as one through unity, cohesion and common goals, there are some real gems amongst the Blues roster. I can select a few that I would stick by right now. Kepa Arrizabalaga is at least understudy quality; Benoit Badiashile has much potential, as does young Lewis Hall.
I did consider Ben Chilwell overrated, although he has impressed me somewhat. I rate Joao Felix, yet it there is uncertainty surrounding his next destination. Meanwhile Noni Madueke is definitely one to watch. Lampard has his own choices from the personnel, as I alluded to earlier. The ex-England midfielder says that, in an ideal world, Reece James and Mason Mount would stay with Chels’. However, the boss stated that modern football doesn’t always have clear outcomes.
No awards or rewards for Chelsea’s underperforming squad?
There shall be no end-of season awards ceremony for CFC players this year, following a pathetic 2022/23. Because they shall finish in the bottom half of the Premier League, in spite of an almighty outlay of around £600m on incoming transfers, the hierarchy obviously believed that there was ‘no reason to celebrate’ the soon-to-be past campaign.
Stars like N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic won’t have a chance to reclaim their former titles. It’s been 27 years since the west London club failed to end in the English top-flight’s top half. Apparently, prizes will still be handed out privately to some Blues; I am not sure that anyone really deserves anything at the moment.
