2. Squad Yard Sale

Amidst the influx of new young signings during the January window, many fans were excited for the much-needed refresh of the squad. However, as the window progressed with few departures, reality began to settle in that the squad had become severely bloated. This not only poses internal challenges, with more personalities to be managed but also on the pitch Potter would constantly tinker with different lineups in search of his best 11.

In addition, the over 600 million euros spent in the last two windows are sure to have raised Financial Fair play concerns. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the club is looking to massively trim the squad down with major outgoings at numerous positions.  Among the more long-standing players rumored to be sold include Christian Pulisic, Mateo Kovacic, Conor Gallagher, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Trevor Chalobah.

Noteworthy players currently on loan, such as Callum Hudson Odoi and Romelu Lukaku are also anticipated to be sold. There’s also the batch of players that were bought last summer which includes the likes of Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who have been incredibly underwhelming. Considering the right offer materializes for any, the club could contemplate cutting their losses.
