3. Mason Mount Transfer

The most profitable and high-profile sale that is seemingly more likely to happen this summer is the departure of Mason Mount. The topic of Mount’s contract extension is a controversial one for Chelsea fans. On one side we remember the young academy graduate that burst onto the scene during Lampard’s first stint and proceeded to become a key piece in our Champions League triumph.

This season hasn’t been Mason’s best and his form has had some questioning whether the club should extend his expiring contract or sell him while he’s still valuable. As of now, it is seeming more likely that Mount departs, his most reported suitors are Manchester United. If the sale is to happen, CFC value Mount at approximately €80million according to Fabrizio Romano.

The club’s approach to maximize their gains from Mount is likely the correct one, yet it does carry some risk. There’s a reality where teams aren’t willing to meet our valuation for Mount and a player of his value is allowed to leave for free next summer to whichever club he chooses. Whatever the outcome is, the window for a decision on the England man’s future in the capital is quickly closing and whether the plan is to keep him or sell him, the decision should probably be made this summer.
