Back in March of 2021, the west Londoners’ defender was stretched off in the Conti Cup final against Bristol City. She battled through a significant rehab process that lasted over 230 days before her knee was ready to step between the white lines again. The fact that she is here now extending her deal is a testament to her remarkable persistence and character as a human being.

When the news became official, the west London veteran expressed what she aimed to do going forward:

"“The last couple of seasons have been a bit hard for me personally with getting back from injury but now, I feel like myself again. I know I am able to contribute to the team and to the club. My aim is to keep on working and do what I can to make the team as good as possible.”"

The Norwegian filled came into the lineup at point in the campaign where the team was plagued by injuries. The Blues’ No.18 established the defensive solidity that this team needed. Her experience and leadership are invaluable. Now that Magdalena Eriksson has made her move to Germany official, Mjelde could take on some of the official captain duties along with Millie Bright next season.
