It has been nearly three weeks since The Athletic and The Evening Standard reported an agreement with the duo of USWNT midfielder Catarina Macario and Paris Saint-Germain defender Ashley Lawrence. Macario has reportedly been in talks with Hayes on coming to west London as soon as her contract with the French powerhouse comes to a close this summer. Macario led Lyon last season in goal contributions domestically and in Europe combined with 22 goals and seven assists.

Lawrence, who is on the verge of joining her international teammates Jessie Fleming and Kadeisha Buchanan has been a force for PSG on the wings of their defense since joining in 2017. The two have not been announced by the club yet, but given the reports, it has to be only a matter a time before we see the both of them holding up a Blues kit.

According to Dean Mears of The Kingsmeadow Chronicle, the “signing to be” was shown around Stamford Bridge on June 2. Mears spoke about the Blues adding some “Spanish flair” in the same report, creating the assumption by many that the player has to be Esther Gonzalez. Real Madrid’s all-time top goal scorer Gonzalez announced she will be departing the club back on May 29. There is still no announcement, but it is just another storyline to add to a laundry list over the past few weeks.
