Brighton & Hove Albion star midfielder Moises Caicedo is going to cost Chelsea a huge fee, so the west London club have alternatives on a wishlist. The Blues also want to sign a goalkeeper. Meanwhile, a £2billion planned redevelopment of Stamford Bridge is seemingly closer.
The latest on Chelsea’s saga-like pursuit of the Ecuador international has taken another turn. It appears that the English capital outfit’s offer of £70million isn’t even close to capturing Caicedo. Brighton never budge if they have a figure in mind and know that a rich team are intent on signing their asset. And fair play to them as a smaller side. The Blues will come back with £10m more, so stories say. Is the player worth that? I am not sure at those rates; he would be a good addition at Stamford Bridge in general.
If CFC cannot secure the Ecuadorian’s services this summer, they may go back for him in January 2024. Or they may be back in a year if refused; the young footballer is only 21 years old. Another option is to target different athletes. Chelsea are said to have three alternatives in mind: Rayan Cherki, Gabri Veiga and Romeo Lavia. The same article claims that Mauricio Pochettino is after a new stopper, too.
Chelsea ostensibly a big step closer to £2bn Stamford Bridge upgrade
The current Blues ownership have received the go ahead following their reported bid to acquire a £50million ‘site of homes of military veterans’ which is near the Fulham Road ground. Plans to redevelop the stadium were first noted under former chairman Roman Abramovich.
Funds were pledged by the consortium of Todd Boehly, the present chair, towards eventual works. Supporters will mainly be thrilled that the Bridge shall become larger. Although, talk of four years away from their home while the 40,341 capacity is expanded won’t please any of them.
