Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has launched an unprovoked attack on Chelsea Football Club. Meanwhile Trevoh Chalobah’s place in the team, or even the squad in general, is under threat as external teams circle to sign the very useful defender.

Guardiola is rightly revered: his methodical planning and almost fastidious footballing mind is second to none. At least, in the modern game he is unmatched and widely imitated. Nevertheless, the Spaniard has his faults as a boss and as a man, too. That would be the same for any us if in his privileged position, at work or in life. On the field his setup is currently unequalled, even unrivalled. But whilst carrying out other managerial duties – such as berating your star player on the pitch at half-time after he had scored and was in the right anyway – the City mastermind can be aloof and rather ignorant occasionally.

In addition to that, Guardiola if often unnecessarily defensive and accusatory while conducting his pre-match and post-match press conferences. This time around, the former Barcelona head coach attacked or accused CFC in an infantile-seeming blame game. In relation to the Blues’ increased spending and supposed dancing on fine Financial Fair Play lines, Guardiola says Man City would be under scrutiny for the same perceived offences. Well, MCFC are under the microscope for similar FFP charges – 100 of them. Therefore the Citizens boss should probably refrain from throwing stones from his particularly opulent glass house. Besides, Chels’ haven’t been charged with wrongdoing yet; if the west London side eventually are, the 52-year-old will have a silver platter of words to eat.
