Ex-Chelsea player claims he was treated poorly at Stamford Bridge
A former Chelsea player claims that he was mishandled and undervalued whilst at Stamford Bridge. According to current Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder and ex-Blue Billy Gilmour, he was unappreciated at CFC and banished to the reserves. Meanwhile things go from bad to worse on and off the pitch for Mauricio Pochettino and his floundering and inexperienced squad.
What has ‘Poch’ got himself into here?! In all seriousness, there was always a chance of this Chelsea situation becoming worse before it got better. I myself said that some time ago, even knowing the Argentine was at the helm.
After a goal-deprived home loss to Aston Villa, fan morale is pretty much at an all-time low. The best way to think of the contemporary situation is thusly: this season may well be a write-off, but good will come again thanks to the amount of investment involved, and the passion supporters have for the club.
Accusation made against Chelsea from onetime up-and-coming Blue
Billy Gilmour seems to have found his feet at Brighton, so to speak. And all power to him, there was never any denying the talent there. The only questions were was he physically as well as mentally tough enough to withstand Premier League pace and calibre? He is. Although, he was clearly not considered trustworthy, good enough or viable as a starter or to regularly feature under past boss Thomas Tuchel.
Though, as bad as the team is now, maybe the Scotland international would be a positive addition in the middle for a stuttering Chels’ at the moment. Unfortunately, Gilmour likely would never consider returning to west London as a CFC athlete. There is, of course, no suggestion of that scenario anyway.
Why would the Scottish footballer not be interested in making a hypothetical comeback at the Bridge? That is because he recently told talkSPORT that he was mistreated at Chelsea in the latter stages of his time there:
"“When I came back from my loan from Norwich, I came back and had pre-season and I just wasn’t in the plans. I ended up leaving pre-season with the first-team to go with the reserves. So we were in America for pre-season and then me and two other boys got told there’s not going to be really a chance here, we’re not going to have another opportunity, we’re going to send you with the reserves.“For me, I was like, right, OK, straight away I knew I wasn’t in the plans, and at that point I was thinking, well, I want to be at a club that really appreciates me and I want to be part of the team. I want to play first-team football. I’ve had a taste for it. I’ve played for my country, so I want to try and push on now.“For me, it was the right time to leave. I spoke with the manager at the time, Thomas Tuchel, and he thought the same.“In pre-season, it kind of kept getting more and more that I was going to leave. I wasn’t seeing much chance in the first-team, so I took the decision and said, ‘OK, I want to push on now and do what’s best for me’, and that was to be at a club that appreciates me.“I want to play football, I want to really settle down and try and find a house and home and be here and give my all.”"
