Chelsea 2-0 Blackburn: 3 Impressive Blues
Raheem Sterling (No. 7) Left winger, England
Sterling showed why he would continue to get starts over the other forwards in the team. His impact on games is obvious. His work rate has remained at incredibly insane levels, and now his ball usage seems to have gotten better. The Englishman got involved in 17 ground duels, 8 of which were defensive. He only won eight out of those 17, but a forward getting into that many ground duels is only a positive. His work rate helped CFC win possession in many favorable positions throughout the game. He attempted nine take-ons and completed five, creating two chances, including a big chance. He continues to show his impact, cementing himself as the Blues’ most reliable goal threat so far. He crowned his performance with a superb goal, curling the ball into the far corner from outside the box.
There were other very good performances too, like Marc Cucurella and Lesley Ugochukwu. Cole Palmer also played well. It was a complete performance befitting of the level of opposition the Blues came up against.
