After allowing Jadon Sancho to return to Manchester United, Chelsea will need to sign a winger this summer. For a long time, it has been claimed that the Blues are eyeing a right-footed wing option in this transfer window. And it looks like they are inching closer towards one of their top targets, although, not everything is in place, yet.

One of the players that Chelsea have been linked with quite heavily in recent months is Jamie Gittens. Now, it looks like a move is starting to get closer.

As reported by Fabrice Hawkins, there is an agreement in principle between Chelsea and Jamie Gittens over a 7-year contract. Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.

Gittens might have lost his place in Borussia Dortmund's starting XI towards the end of the campaign. But that was enough to convince Chelsea that they needed to look at other options. as it looks like they are pushing to get a deal done for the English winger before the Club World Cup.

A lot has to do with the system and Gittens might be a good fit in Enzo Maresca's one. He is a very good one-v-one player, has pace and the dribbling ability to get past his man, and is also someone who is keen to get his shots off when he is in those positions.

It is believed that Borussia Dortmund could be looking for a transfer fee in the region of £50 million for Gittens. But Chelsea might be looking to get a deal done slightly north of £30 million.

So, there is a decent gap in the valuation there. It remains to be seen if the two clubs can find an agreement over a transfer in the coming days. Things are moving fast, though, with a deal now agreed between Chelsea and Gittens.
