Chelsea need to make some more additions before the 25/26 season. They are in a very good position right now, having finished the 24/25 campaign strong. Not only did they finish fourth in the Premier League and secure Champions League, but they also won the Conference League. Then, they shocked pretty much everybody by winning the Club World Cup.
That has raised expectations around Enzo Maresca's team. But one cannot make the mistake of thinking that this is the finished article. It quite clearly is not. Even a couple of months ago, the Blues were struggling and it had looked like they were set to miss out on a top-five finish.
So, Chelsea need to make the right additions in the remainder of this summer transfer window in order to take Maresca's team to the next level. If recent speculation is anything to go by, they want a fluid player capable of playing on both wings and in the number 10 role.
The likes of Morgan Rogers and Eberechi Eze have been linked with Chelsea for a little while. Now, the name of Xavi Simons is growing in prominence as well and it looks like a move is possible.
£52m player's agents begin transfer talks with Chelsea
Simons is believed to be looking to leave RB Leipzig, despite joining the club on a permanent basis in January, after they failed to qualify for the Champions League. He is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League. Chelsea are not the only potential destination either.
As reported by CaughtOffside, the agents of Simons have begun talks with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur over a potential summer transfer. The Dutch international is available for around €60m this summer.
Manchester United and Newcastle United are believed to hold an interest in the player as well. A return to Barcelona does not seem to be a possibility.
