Chelsea and Bayern Munich initially came to an agreement for a €15 million loan fee for Nicolas Jackson to move to Bavaria for the season, with a €80 million buy option. Things were going well until Liam Delap suffered an injury in the match against Fulham, and the Blues cancelled the previously agreed-upon deal. The Senegalese striker wasn't happy at all with the decision and was keen to salvage the transfer.

Chelsea agreed to part ways with him after reaching an agreement to recall Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland, but they were reluctant to sanction a temporary move. This helped them to get a better deal, as Bayern Munich agreed to a new deal worth a combined £70.5 million.

Chelsea received a higher loan fee of £14.25 million, up from £13 million. There was also an obligation to sign him for £56.25 million. But that was only if certain conditions were met.

But after Bayern Munich honorary president, Uli Hoeness, most recent remarks regarding Jackson's move to Allianz Arena, it feels like the deal is not as good for the Blues as it first appeared. And the obligation to buy is unlikely to be triggered. The German legend said (via @iMiaSanMia):

"It's not a €16.5 million loan fee, because the player and his agent are contributing €3 million, so that leaves €13.5 million. And there will definitely not be a permanent contract. That only happens if he plays 40 games from the start. He will never do that."

Given that Harry Kane is the undisputed first-choice striker for Bayern Munich, Jackson might get more starts if given chances on the flanks. Also, given that Bundesliga clubs only play 34 league games, it appears unlikely that the Chelsea forward would start 40 times in all competitions, unless the Englishman spends significant time on the sidelines

Under these circumstances, it is hard to see the obligation being triggered. Of course, the two clubs might end up reaching a separate agreement next summer.

It remains to be seen what the Senegal striker's future holds. However, Jackson could face his parent club Chelsea when both meet in their first match of the Champions League campaign on 17 September at the Allianz Arena.
