Andoni Iraola could give forgotten Chelsea man lifeline after what he said about him

Chelsea's search for a new manager continues and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola is in contention.

The Blues have recently made contact with the Cherries boss' representatives following their decision to sack Liam Rosenior after just 104 days in charge.

Iraola has already confirmed he'll be leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season and, according to the Telegraph, is now in the running to take the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

And while the 43-year-old would be an exciting appointment, his potential arrival could prove even more important for one forgotten Chelsea man.

Andoni Iraola thinks very highly of Nicolas Jackson

Nicolas Jackson has spent this season on loan at Bayern Munich. He'll return to West London in the summer, though.

Max Eberl confirmed the Bavarians have no intention of triggering his £56 million transfer clause, leaving the African striker facing an uncertain future.

However, should Iraola become the next Chelsea manager, judging by what he's previously said about Jackson, there is a chance the 24-year-old could still have a big part to play.

"I faced him with Villarreal. He is a very, very good player. He has the threat with his speed to attack the spaces. But he is very good also when he receives, turns and attacks one against one.

I think he will provide not only the goals, but a lot of chances. He will work well with the other forwards. I think he is a really good player."

High praise from one of Europe's most sought after tacticians.

Unlikely lifeline if Iraola gets Chelsea job

Even though Bayern Munich don't want to sign him permanently, Jackson has had a good campaign.

Despite being forced to play second fiddle to Harry Kane, the Senegal international has scored 10 goals in all competitions, including three in his last three starts.

He's clearly in form and capable of performing in Europe's big leagues. Whether or not Chelsea plan to keep him beyond the summer is another story though.

The Blues don't have a good recent history of signing strikers. Joao Pedro has proved worthwhile, but Liam Delap and Marc Guiu have both struggled. The pair look strong contenders to be sold in the summer.

Where that may leave Jackson, nobody knows at this stage, however, one thing is for sure, the striker will not have a better chance of saving his Chelsea career than if Iraola becomes BlueCo's fifth permanent appointment.
